I was so busy watching Dawkins, Harris, and Hitchens I forgot to keep my eye on the movement itself.

“Organised atheism” was probably a reaction to “organised religion”, which was quietly acquiring inappropriate status in terms of state recognition, laws, finance, employment, education, etc. What is now bubbling to the surface is whatever degree of spirituality people have — i.e. their own personal beliefs — which is far more varied than the teachings of any organised religion. I personally feel that these two facets (religion .v. spirituality) should be distinguished more clearly, and the target of discussion & criticism more clearly focused. Unfortunately, it seems the majority of people cannot argue logically and objectively so things just continue to go in circles.
